Create a Space for Connection

Rain, wind, and the heat of a Queensland summer can all make outdoor living uncomfortable.

You could stay indoors – or you could build a pergola that combines protection and privacy with open-air ambience.

That could mean a roofed pergola sheltering your poolside deck or modern screens that integrate with your living area.

Each one delivers different benefits and a different aesthetic, but the outcome is the same:

A visually stunning backyard feature that brings you and your loved ones together, outside.

Thanks to Luke and Jacob for an excellent job. Highly recommended!

‘After two no-shows from other companies, Luke from Pacific Patio was a breath of fresh air.

He arrived right on time for the initial quote, answered all our questions, and offered great ideas for the build.

We worked together to settle on the best design, and he came back within two days to walk us through the detailed quote.

Once we decided to go ahead, Luke and Jacob, showed up exactly as scheduled. The pergola was built to perfection, with outstanding attention to detail.’

Patio Coverings Gold Coast

An exposed patio can be nice during Gold Coast winters.

For most of the year, though, it’s too hot or too wet to use.

But adding a pergola changes that.

With the right covering, an occasional hangout can become the heart of your family’s outdoor lifestyle.

We’ll help you design and construct a custom pergola for your tiled patio or deck, with options ranging from insulated roofs to smart features like automatic lighting and remote-controlled louvres.

Every Pacific Patios build comes with a 15-year material warranty.

Custom Pergola Designs

A pergola should feel like an extension of your house, not a tacked-on afterthought.

When you work with a custom builder like us, you’ll have full control over exactly what your structure looks like, right down to matched colours and materials.

After your initial meeting, our design team will work with you to develop a 3D in-situ render of your pergola – one that’s not limited by an off-the-shelf softwood or COLORBOND kit.

Add features like an insulated roof, automatic lighting, and an integrated cooking station, or go for a minimalist, lightweight feel that’s ideal for gardens.

Your new space is in your hands.

Open-Air Pergolas and Arbours

The difference between an open-air and roofed pergola isn’t just aesthetic.

Open-air structures feel different – more open, more inviting, more connected to the space they exist in.

Vines can accentuate that even further, creating a structure that seamlessly bridges your house and garden.

A custom design means you don’t need to compromise on shade, either.

Angled joists can block off sun at certain times of day without affecting air flow – and smart features like electronic shade clothes and louvres can create an open-air space that’s still usable in all weather.

Gary is a great carpenter and deck builder and did a fantastic job

‘Had the pacific patios team recently finish building a composite deck and patio here at our house in Robina.

From the initial measure and quote, to the installation and handover we felt like we were in good hands.

There were a few issues that arose, and it was the quick response from the office staff and Gareths professionalism and skills to rectify the issues that set this company apart from the rest.

Would not hesitate to recommend pacific patios for a deck or patio/pergola build.’

02

Get a Free Quote

(2-7 Days)

One of our design consultants will visit your property within 7 business days to inspect your pergola’s site and provide a free quote.

03

Seek Council Approval

(2-4 Weeks)

Once you accept your quote, we start drafting your construction plans, organising building insurances and lodging the paperwork with council for approval.

Please note that relaxations and town planning applications can take quite a while longer; however, we’ll keep you informed along the way.

We order your materials, introduce you to your project manager, and confirm a commencement date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a pergola, an arbour, a pavilion, a gazebo, and a patio covering?

Many people use those terms interchangeably, but here’s how we define them.

A pergola is an attached or freestanding structure with at least four pillars or posts that covers a patio or path. It can be open (often, partially shaded by vines) or covered with a gable or skillion roof.

An arbour is a type of roofless pergola with overhead lattices or joists. It’s typically designed to be covered in vines like wisteria or jasmine.

A patio covering is any pergola installed over a patio (an unraised, floored outdoor space designed for sitting and entertaining).

A pavilion is a standalone patio covering that isn’t connected to a main structure like a house.

A gazebo is a type of pavilion. It’s typically smaller, features a circular or hexagonal/octagonal roof, and is normally located in a garden setting. Many gazebos also have railings, elevated patios, and cupolas.

Do you need council approval for a pergola?

It depends. If your pergola is less than 2.4 metres high, 10 square metres, and 5 metres long and not located in a setback area, you generally won’t need approval. If you do need approval, we’ll liaise with council on your behalf before building commences. You don’t need to do anything.

What warranties do you offer?

We offer an 6.5-year structural warranty on all new builds and an 12-month defects liability period for non-structural defects. Individual parts and materials may have separate manufacturer’s warranties.

Remember: you’re also covered by the Australian Consumer Law, which means we have a legal obligation to deliver your pergola with due skill and care (that is, in line with industry best practices and building codes), for the purposes you’ve told us about, and within a reasonable time.

Where do you build pergolas?

We design and construct pergolas for properties across the Gold Coast and Tweed. That includes homes as far north as Ormeau, as far south as Cabarita Beach, and as far west as Mount Tamborine and Canungra. To check whether your postcode falls within our service area, give us a call on (07) 5535 6660.

Do you do paving or tiling?

No, we don’t, but we can install pergolas over existing paved, tiled or concrete patios. If you’d like a referral to a tiler we trust, get in touch with us.

Is it cheaper to build a pergola or buy one?

It’s technically cheaper to build a pergola yourself, but you’ll need the right skills to do so. That includes lodging plans with council, preparing the site with correct drainage, assembling the pergola, and, in some cases, installing wiring for lights and fans. You’ll also need enough time to get the job done – something many of our clients don’t have. In most cases, it’s much simpler (and more cost-effective) to have outdoor structure professionals like us build one for you.
