Invite Your Family Outdoors

A deck isn’t just an alternative to a tiled or slab patio.

Boards feel different under your feet.

Air and heat move differently when there’s no ground contact.

Elevated framing means you can take advantage of otherwise unusable slopes and hills (without worrying about drainage).

Add a pergola for weather protection, and you’ve got the perfect outdoor space – one purpose-built for Gold Coast lifestyles.

Custom Timber Deck Designs

Timber decks are quintessentially Queensland – think of wraparounds, poolside patios, and covered cooking stations.

And there’s a reason they’re so popular on the Gold Coast.

A timber deck is well-ventilated, cooler in the sun than tile or composite, and suitable for properties of all gradients.

Choosing timber doesn’t have to equal high maintenance, either.

Our designers will recommend hardwood boards with less than 15% moisture – the more seasoned timber is, the less it shrinks and warps post-installation.

We’ll also specify solvent-borne sealants, which protect your decking from rain and UV radiation more effectively than water-based options.

A long-lasting outdoor space is built on the right design and the right materials.

Gary is a great carpenter and deck builder and did a fantastic job

‘Had the pacific patios team recently finish building a composite deck and patio here at our house in Robina.

From the initial measure and quote, to the installation and handover we felt like we were in good hands.

There were a few issues that arose, and it was the quick response from the office staff and Gareths professionalism and skills to rectify the issues that set this company apart from the rest.

Would not hesitate to recommend pacific patios for a deck or patio/pergola build.’

One of our design consultants will visit your property within 7 business days to inspect your deck’s site and provide a free quote.

03

Seek Council Approval

(2-4 Weeks)

Once you accept your quote, we start drafting your construction plans, organising building insurances and lodging the paperwork with council for approval.

Please note that relaxations and town planning applications can take quite a while longer; however, we’ll keep you informed along the way.

04

Materials Are Ordered

(6-12 Weeks)

We order your materials, introduce you to your project manager, and confirm a commencement date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you build low-profile decks as well as elevated decks?

Yes, we can. Low-profile decks (also known as decked patios) can be laid directly onto a concrete/stone foundation or slightly elevated on a subframe or adjustable pedestals. They’re a great option if you like the feel and aesthetic of decking but don’t have the property slope to justify an elevated deck. (Decked patios also tend to be less temperature-sensitive than tiled or concrete patios, and don’t require the same level of digging or drainage.

Do you need council approval for a deck?

Yes, decks normally need council approval, especially if they’re raised off the ground. We’ll liaise with council on your behalf before building commences. You don’t need to do anything.

Where do you build decks?

We design and construct decks for properties across the Gold Coast and Tweed. That includes homes as far north as Ormeau, as far south as Cabarita Beach, and as far west as Mount Tamborine and Canungra. To check whether your postcode falls within our service area, give us a call on (07) 553 566 60.

What warranties do you offer?

We offer an 6.5-year structural warranty on all new builds and an 12-month defects liability period for non-structural defects. Individual parts and materials may have separate manufacturer’s warranties.

Remember: you’re also covered by the Australian Consumer Law, which means we have a legal obligation to deliver your pergola with due skill and care (that is, in line with industry best practices and building codes), for the purposes you’ve told us about, and within a reasonable time.

Can you do timber-look aluminium decks?

Yes, we can. Aluminium decking is the best of both worlds – the durability and low maintenance of composite decking, but without the delamination, melting risks, or environmental issues. Once it’s powder-coated to achieve a timber-look finish, it will stay relatively cool even in direct sunlight. Aluminium decks with steel framing last almost indefinitely, but they are more expensive than traditional timber decks.

How much does it cost to have someone build a deck?

The cost of a deck varies. If you’re happy with a no-frills pine deck, expect to pay around $400 per square metre. For a properly seasoned hardwood deck with features like a pergola, expect to pay upwards of $15,000. (Our average client spends around $18,000.)

Can I build my own deck?

You can build your own deck, but it’s not easy, especially if you want to add some kind of covering. You’ll need to understand the correct structure for a long-lasting deck, be confident in your carpentry and footing skills, apply for council approval, and seal and stain your timber. You’ll also have to acquire your own materials, which can be expensive if you don’t have a trade account.

Most of our customers – even those who could build their own decks – find it’s easier and faster to have us design and construct their decks instead. We’re also responsible for any defects, which matters if you don’t have legal liability coverage but intend to use your deck for guests.

What’s a floating deck?

A floating deck is a deck that isn’t attached to footing or connected to your house. It normally rests on a gravel bed or concrete/stone blocks, and can, theoretically, be picked up and moved. Floating decks can be a good idea when you want a deck-like feel in a flat space located away from your house (for example, in a garden). They’re also much cheaper and faster to build, and don’t normally require council approval.
